Want to know who we are and how PhD Jokes started?
Read Our Story
PhD Jokes began as a humble escape from lab reports and passive-aggressive supervisor emails back in 2012. What started as a few memes shared between exhausted PhD students quickly exploded into a full-blown academic comedy movement. Today, we’re a community of over 200,000 brilliant procrastinators across Facebook and Instagram, all united by a shared love of research, coffee, and dark academic humor.
We’re just a bunch of science nerds who accidentally built a meme empire while trying to survive grad school. Even though we’ve all gone on to hold serious jobs with actual salaries and calendars filled with meetings, we never stopped making memes for the stressed-out scholars, postdocs, and caffeine-fueled dreamers of the world.
Now, we’ve brought that chaotic, relatable energy to a blog and merch store because if you’re going to cry in the lab, you might as well do it in a comfy hoodie that says “My pipette is my therapist.”
Whether you’re battling reviewer number two, chasing a citation you vaguely remember from 2015, or just trying to look impressive at conferences for someone who doesn’t even follow you back, we see you. We get you. And we’re here to make you laugh through it all.
Welcome to the PhD Jokes family. Your thesis may not be done yet, but at least your meme game is solid.
